As a member of the County’s communications team, Christa leads the County of San Mateo's social media initiatives by providing outreach and communications support to the Board of Supervisors and County of San Mateo departments. With a background in journalism and experience in media relations and crisis communications, Christa oversees County activity on social media platforms, developing best practices, identifying new opportunities for civic engagement and measuring the impact of those efforts.
Before joining the County in 2014, Christa spent more than 15 years as a professional journalist in the Bay Area, working in both traditional newsrooms and start-up settings.
She holds a master's degree in cultural resources management from Sonoma State University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Emerson College in Boston.
