Supervisor Jackie Speier will present a resolution to adopt a Code of Conduct during her first full Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, January 14th. The Resolution is co-sponsored by Board President David Canepa.
“A code of conduct is a helpful tool to clarify our mission, our values, and our principles,” Speier said. “The U.S. Congress, boards of supervisors, city councils, and school boards in other communities already have such codes and report having benefitted from them by defining the standards for the conduct of elected officials. We need to treat each other with respect, the public expects nothing less. This code of conduct spells out ten principles of our commitment to the highest ideals of integrity.”
“By adopting this Code of Conduct, we are taking a meaningful step toward ensuring that our service is guided by the highest ethical standards and rooted in the unwavering principle of advancing the public good.” Canepa said. “This resolution is a testament to our commitment as leaders to foster integrity, respect and collaboration within our Board and the public we serve.”
The full board will vote on the Resolution on Tuesday. You can read the Resolution here and the full text of the Code of Conduct here.
